Nurse scientist Professor Peter Jepsen has been given an opportunity to run a clinical trial to test the efficacy of sildenafil in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. Professor Peter Jepsen, who is also a medicine scientist at the University of Manchester, was the chief scientist for the trial at the time and is currently the lead investigator for the clinical trial.
The sildenafil trial was funded by Pfizer, a company that produces Viagra. Professor Jepsen’s clinical trial was funded by the Department of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Manchester. Viagra is the brand name for sildenafil, which is an oral medication for erectile dysfunction.
The clinical trial has been criticised for being ‘unsuitable’ for many men, with a review published in the journalPharmacy Journalby theNew England Journal of Medicinefinding it unacceptable for men to take more than one dose of sildenafil, particularly when a men’s sexual health service should be able to provide it for them.
Professor Jepsen said: “I would be remiss to withhold comment on the safety profile of the trial because I’m very keen to try and find out more about this subject.”
About the University of Manchester Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has been given the powers to investigate and resolve complaints about the prescribing of medicines containing sildenafil and other medicines in hospitals, clinics and elsewhere without leave to the discretion of the MHRA.

A review by EMA’s clinical pharmacology group concluded that the clinical effect of sildenafil was “large and potentially irreversible” and “exists with increasing doses of sildenafil”, the EMA said.
In October 2013, the MHRA sent a complaint to EMA about ‘serious and potentially life-threatening safety issues, including a significant increase in the risk of priapism’ in patients taking sildenafil.

Viagra is a popular medication for treating erectile dysfunction. In the United States, Viagra is available on the market, but the generic is not yet available. For patients who have experienced difficulty with erections, Viagra may be the best option available.
The recommended dose of Viagra (the generic name for Sildenafil) is 25mg, taken orally once or twice daily. Patients should take the dose as instructed by their healthcare provider, and the dose can be adjusted according to the patient’s response and tolerance.
The recommended starting dose of Viagra for patients with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction is 50 mg taken orally once daily. Patients should take the dose as directed by their healthcare provider, and the dose can be adjusted according to the patient’s response and tolerance.
It is important to note that Viagra is not an aphrodisiac. It only works when sexual stimulation occurs, and sexual stimulation does not necessarily cause erections. Therefore, patients should not engage in sexual activity until the medication has been taken for at least six hours after the previous dose.
